The Heart Behind the Scroll Saw
Meet Jay, the craftsman behind Bearclaw Woodfixins. While his days are spent working a full-time job, his evenings and weekends often find him in the workshop doing what he loves—creating with his scroll saw.
Every piece is individually cut by Jay, one careful cut at a time. From the intricate details of a trumpet to the recognizable outline of an Aussie, his attention to detail is what makes each piece uniquely Bearclaw. No laser cutting. No mass production. Just traditional scroll saw craftsmanship, patience, and a whole lot of care.
A Shared Passion
While Jay is the craftsman behind the scroll saw, I’m Malinda, and I help bring each piece across the finish line. Bearclaw Woodfixins truly is a team effort from our home to yours.
I handle the hand-sanding, finishing, photography, inventory, final quality checks, packaging, website, and the behind-the-scenes details that keep Bearclaw moving. Before anything leaves our hands, I make sure it meets the same standard we would expect if we were buying it ourselves.
Our Promise
At Bearclaw Woodfixins, we believe handcrafted should truly mean handcrafted. Every piece is individually cut on a scroll saw, carefully hand-sanded, finished, inspected, and prepared by us right here in Elkmont, Alabama.
We may be a small family business, but we put a lot of care into what leaves our shop. Whether you choose one of our wooden puzzles, a piece for your home, or something made especially for you, our goal is simple: to create something we’re proud to put the Bearclaw name on—and you’ll be proud to bring home.
Not because it’s the fastest way. Because it’s the Bearclaw way.
Bandit, the Shop Dog &
Official Supervisor
While Jay handles the scroll saw and Malinda keeps the details moving, Bandit has appointed himself Bearclaw’s official shop supervisor. He’s usually not far away—checking on what Jay is doing, keeping an eye on the shop, or simply finding the best place to stretch out and supervise from a comfortable distance.
Bandit has become part of the Bearclaw story, too. Whether he’s hanging around the workshop or making an appearance in one of our behind-the-scenes photos, he’s never too far from the action. Around here, handcrafted woodworking really is a family affair—four paws included.
